No sabemos bien si más es mejor ya que son muchos los hechos que terminan contradiciendo el dicho de “Burro grande…”. Por un lado, que un móvil sea extremadamente potente no implica que sea mejor; igual que si tiene más cámaras o estas hacen las fotos a mayor tamaño. Pero no, ahí van los fabricantes con su “Burro grande…”. Xiaomi es una experta.
La empresa china está decidida a no quedarse atrás en la carrera por la fotografía móvil. No solo en términos de software, procesado de imágenes e inteligencia artificial, también en el número de sensores y en el tamaño que pueden conseguir para sus fotos. Apúntate una cifra: 48 Mpx. Y no es un rumor.

Más no siempre es mejor, como decíamos, pero sí que permite promocionarse en mayor medida ya que las cifras abultan cualquier hoja de especificaciones. Y, si bien parecía que la carrera por engordar los megapíxeles había concluido, ha sido Huawei con su compendio de cámaras en los “P20” y “Mate” la que ha demostrado que se pueden conseguir buenas fotos combinando las características de diversos sensores, ópticas y software.
Si nos fijamos en la imagen que ha soltado el presidente de Xiaomi, Lin Bin, en Weibo apreciamos un mensaje contundente: “48MP CAMERA“. La foto está recortada de la original y apenas deja ver más que un pedazo del objetivo y el flash LED dual. Lo único que acompaña a la foto es un avance de cuándo estará disponible ese supuesto móvil: enero de 2019.
¿Qué móvil puede ser el afortunado? Teniendo en cuenta la cualidad de la cámara todo apunta a que debe ser un gama alta. El único que está casi preparado para distribuirse es el Mi Mix 3S, la revisión con 5G del modelo original. Otro móvil podría ser el Xiaomi Mi 9, pero tampoco casa con el calendario de lanzamientos: debería estar preparado para cuando Qualcomm tenga listo el Snapdragon 855. Y eso no ocurrirá en enero del año que viene.
