Ahora Honor ha explicado el proceso de creación del orificio para la cámara frontal en la pantalla del dispositivo, detallando por qué la cámara se encuentra en la esquina superior izquierda.

David Yuan, diseñador jefe de Honor, ha explicado que la empresa hizo una encuesta entre los usuarios para saber dónde les gustaría tener la cámara. Fue un proceso en dos fases: en la primera se le pedía a la gente que eligiera entre orificio, muesca de gota de agua y muesca de tamaño completo. El orificio fue el ganador por encima de la muesca de gota de agua y a gran distancia de la muesca tradicional.
La siguiente parte de la encuesta tenía como objetivo averiguar dónde querría la gente que estuviera la cámara: en el centro o en una de las esquinas.
La esquina derecha nunca fue una opción para el diseño final ya que el equipo de diseñadores pensó que ocultaría una zona importante de la pantalla al jugar o tomar fotografías en horizontal. Dado que todos los botones del teléfono están a la derecha, Honor espera que la mayoría de la gente juegue con ellos apuntando hacia arriba para evitar presionarlos por accidente.
Honor también llegó a la conclusión de que mientras que la mayoría de la gente toma fotos con el teléfono horizontalmente en la misma orientación, algunos lo rotan de la otra manera. Y cuando lo haces así, la tecla del obturador virtual caería justo encima de la cámara frontal si estuviera en el centro de la pantalla. Eso hizo que la esquina superior izquierda fuera la opción más lógica.
Aunque encontrar la posición correcta no fue fácil, en realidad la fabricación del teléfono fue la parte más difícil. Con las muescas y los marcos tradicionales, el módulo de cámara se asienta debajo de un montón de capas – la placa guía de luz (LGP), la matriz y el filtro de color, la película polarizante (POL), un adhesivo óptico (OCA), y por supuesto, el cristal de protección.
Todo este diseño hace que la estructura de la pantalla sea más frágil y que más luz de la pantalla interfiera con la cámara. Y por supuesto, trae consigo un borde negro, incluso en las muescas de la gota de agua, debido a cómo se fabrica la pantalla.
Para evitarlo, el Honor View 20 utiliza una tecnología diferente para el diseño del panel. Las 18 capas son refinadas, con un pequeño punto para la cámara que no penetra físicamente en la pantalla. En la capa de cristal líquido, Honor utiliza una técnica llamada tecnología de transición de píxeles, que controla el flujo de cristales permitiendo que la luz pase a través de la cámara.
Los ingenieros de Honor utilizan avanzados procesos de litografía para crear un orificio transparente para la cámara y, con el material de unión adecuado, todas las capas están diseñadas de manera que no permitan que la luz penetre en el sensor.
