Google seguirá actualizando Android One y zanja la polémica 96
Hace unas semanas, la prensa especializada y usuarios de todo el mundo nos alarmamos cuando Google eliminó de su página web la referencia al compromiso de dos años de actualización de software en los smartphones con Android One. Google salió al paso enseguida para afirmar que no se habían producido cambios en su política de actualizaciones con Android One y sigue reafirmando dicho compromiso de soporte.
Y así es, la compañía nos confirmó de primera mano que no hay cambios en dicha política y así lo está haciendo alrededor de todo el mundo. Aunque suene raro, la eliminación por parte de Google del texto en la web que hacía referencia a esta garantía de Android One, responde simplemente motivos de diseño de la página oficial. Es decir, auque Google no lo especifique en ese apartado, el compromiso sigue vigente.
Aunque por supuesto tomamos la palabra de Google por buena, no deja de sorprendernos que de ser así, haya sido eliminado siendo uno de los reclamos más poderosos para apostar por terminales con Android One. En cualquier caso, los dos años de actualizaciones de software siguen intactos en todos los modelos con Android One del mercado. Recordamos que los dos años comienzan desde la fecha de lanzamiento del dispositivo y no desde la fecha de compra del mismo.
Android One en futuros terminales
El compromiso de grandes fabricantes con Android One sigue muy presente. Hoy mismo hemos sabido que el próximo Nokia 9 PureView llevará Android One en vena (además de cinco cámaras traseras) cuando salga al mercado en 2019. Android One también sigue siendo un sistema operativo muy preciado para aquellos usuarios que rechazan las capas de personalización de los fabricantes y que camuflan la esencia de Android original.
Aun así, no todos los fabricantes actualización sus dispositivos Android One al mismo tiempo cuando Google pone en marca una nueva versión. Lo que sí garantiza es su actualización en terminales de gama media y baja, llegando a contar con versiones de Android más recientes y antes que smartphones mucho más caros. Es el caso por ejemplo del Xiaomi Mi A1 con Android One. Xiaomi lo lanzó al mercado con Android Nougat, ha pasado por Android Oreo y ahora comienza a recibir Android 9 Pie. Todo ello en cuestión de un año y poco que lleva el terminal a la venta.
Estamos contentos de la reafirmación de Google y aún queda por ver la apuesta a mayores de los grandes fabricantes con Android One.
