No es la primera vez que sucede y, probablemente, tampoco será la última. El año pasado también vimos como el Samsung Galaxy S7 con procesador Snapdragon 820 necesitaba más energía para realizar sus tareas en comparación con el Exynos 8890. Todo apunta a que Qualcomm tampoco ha puesto demasiada dedicación este año en solventar los problemas de eficiencia del Snapdragon 835.
Según los tests de las dos versiones del Samsung Galaxy S8 realizados por PhoneArena, el modelo internacional con Exynos duraba 8 horas y 22 minutos, mientras que el Snapdragon duró 7 horas y 30 minutos. Como se puede apreciar, la diferencia no es poca, puesto que para el uso diario de un dispositivo, casi una hora de diferencia puede resultar crucial.
Los resultados son intrigantes cuanto menos. Y es que ambos procesadores han sido fabricados en un proceso de 10 nanómetros. No obstante, la diferencia podría residir en las diferencias de diseño ya que los núcleos de los dos chips son propios de Samsung y Qualcomm, aunque posiblemente, están basados en la arquitectura ARM Cortex-A73 y Cortex-A53.
De cualquier manera, hay que tener en cuenta esta diferencia en el apartado de la eficiencia del Samsung Galaxy S8. Y es que ciertos usuarios pueden considerarse en desventaja respecto a otros que obtengan mejores marcas en la duración de sus baterías.
