En los últimos meses hemos visto cómo el notch ha sido una de las tendencias más claras en el sector de la telefonía móvil. Permitía mantener piezas delante a la vez que aumentaba la diagonal de la pantalla. Pero muchos usuarios renegaban del mismo prefiriendo marcos convencionales antes que extraños recortes en el panel.
Se acerca el final de 2018 y parece que con él el final del notch ya que los principales fabricantes están apostando por dos soluciones que dejarían de lado esta tendencia.
No son las únicas dado que los elementos móviles permiten prescindir también del notch pero salvo e Oppo Find X y el Xiaomi Mi Mi 3 no parece que vayamos a verlo en más dispositivos. Y estas dos nuevas opciones empiezan a hacerse masivas.
Cámara integrada mediante agujero en pantalla
La primera solución a la existencia del notch es bastante simple. En vez de tener una suerte de península en la zona superior (algo que se ve muy bien en los notch con forma de gota de agua) construimos una isla. En ella sólo estaría la cámara.
Esta es la solución que presentó Samsung en una conferencia para empresas colaboradoras. Pero no es la única que usará este sistema. Huawei ha anunciado ya que presentará en pocos días su primer móvil con un agujero en pantalla para alojar la cámara. El rumoreado Huawei Nova 4 será el primero en el mundo en comercializarse con esta solución. Y se espera que el Galaxy A8s, que se anunciará este año, también la tenga.
Las ventajas de esta opción son evidentes. Podremos prescindir de zonas que recorten la pantalla de manera agresiva, no habrá gastos extras en piezas móviles o elementos duplicados y la zona de la pantalla ocupada es mínima.
Pero también hay inconvenientes. Será muy fácil pasar el dedo por encima y ensuciar permanentemente el sensor. Además la zona en la que esté la cámara no será sensible al tacto y los elementos de la interfaz como botones en los juegos deberán tener eso en cuenta.
Pese a todo, son varios los fabricantes que están desarrollando diseños con esta opción, aunque no es la única.
Doble pantalla para prescindir de notch
La otra solución que empezamos a ver es la de duplicar la pantalla. La idea es sencilla. Si tenemos una pantalla en la zona trasera en la que vernos, no hace falta la cámara delantera, pudiendo usar la cámara principal también para los selfies.
Esto es lo que hace el Nubia X, con una pantalla camuflada bajo su diseño de metal y cristal, y también el nuevo móvil de Vivo que se ha filtrado en los últimos días y que será presentado en breve.
La ventaja de esta solución es que prescinde de la cámara delantera, ahorrando ese coste, no tiene ningún recorte en pantalla, permitiendo usar todo el frontal para la misma, y no hay elementos móviles.
El inconveniente es que al duplicar la pantalla aumentamos el coste del terminal y, sobre todo, aumentamos su fragilidad ya que es mucho más probable que ante una caída uno de los dos paneles acabe roto.
Es posible que acabemos viendo varias soluciones convivir durante un tiempo, con marcas alardeando de una postura u otra.
